Local-first

It runs on your computer. Your data stays there.

Zeff is a program you download and start, not a service you sign up for. There is no Zeff cloud: the database is a file on your disk.

Your AI subscription

The AI steps run through the Claude Code, Codex or Copilot CLI you already use, signed in with your own account. Pick a model per task.

Nothing marked as read

Mail, WhatsApp, Signal and Teams are read from their lists. No chat is opened, so no blue ticks and no read receipts.

Data boundaries

Label any source or database open, personal or secret. Agents only see personal data when you allow it, and secret data never leaves its place.

On your phone too

Reach Zeff from your phone through Tailscale, your own private network. Behind a password, nothing open to the internet.

Encrypted backups

AES-256 encrypted, daily, with daily, weekly and monthly copies. Optional copy to your Google Drive. Restore in one click.

Briefing and todos

Questions
Does my data go to a Zeff server?

No. There is no Zeff server. Your data lives in a database file on your computer. The AI steps go to the AI provider of the CLI you chose, under your own account.

Do I need all the sources?

No. Every source and feature is a plugin you can switch on or off. Zeff with just a Workspace and a journal works fine.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes, as a web app: install Tailscale on your computer and your phone, set a password in Settings → Mobile access, and add Zeff to your home screen.

Which languages?

English, German and Spanish, for the interface and for dates and numbers.

What does “non-commercial” mean here?

Your own life and your own projects. If you use Zeff for paid work or inside a company, you need a commercial licence.

What happens to my data at 1.0?

It stays yours. Updating replaces the program, not your data, and you can export everything as backups at any time.
